why work with me?
I’VE RUN MY OWN WRITING BUSINESS FOR 10+ YEARS
I’ve lived the highs and lows, encountered the challenges and I know the strategies and mindsets you need to thrive.
I’M A TRAINED COACH AND COUNSELLOR
I have an ICF-accredited coaching diploma and a Level 2 certificate in person-centred counselling. They’ve taught me how to truly listen, break through limiting beliefs and help you create the changes you want.
SEARCHING QUESTIONS ARE MY THING
As a writer, I’ve conducted many hundreds of interviews; I know how to ask the right questions and get straight to the juicy stuff.
what my Clients say
"Geoff helped me see that I wanted a business to fit around my life, not the other way around. It's changed the guilt I carry about how I spend my time, and how I use the flexibility I actually have."
Emily, writer, community owner
“Leaving my job, becoming freelance and already being fully booked is kind of nuts. I didn’t think I could do that.”
Will, photographer and videographer
“Geoff helped me recognise how much relying on external validation, and ‘shoulds’ were stopping me from following my own instincts and achieving goals. Thanks to this, I was able to get much more clarity over decisions in my career.”
Christina, marketing lead and founder of ContentUK
“Geoff helped me work through some of the limiting beliefs that have been holding me back and has given me renewed motivation to keep growing my business.”
Jordan, writer

Understanding Your Self-Employed Mind is a short, honest guide to the messy human side of working for yourself.
It looks briefly at things like resistance, procrastination, self-consciousness and perfectionism, and what to do about them.
my coaching
Coaching with me is honest, deep work – not a quick fix or a list of action points.
We start by taking a good hard look at where you are: what's working, what isn't, and what you actually want. That means exploring not just your business, but the rest of your life too – because the two are impossible to separate.
Often that starts with values – what actually matters to you, and whether the way you're working reflects it. From there we might dig into mindset, confidence, marketing, finances or productivity. What matters is that we figure out what's really going on, then work out how to change it.
Sessions run in person if you're based near Falmouth, Cornwall, or online wherever you're working from.
I'm particularly drawn to freelancers and small business owners whose work is driven by a genuine desire to make a positive difference. We need more of you!
BUT WHAT DOES IT COST?
Fair question. Packages start from £500, but pricing is bespoke, depending on what’s right for you. The best option? Book a call and let’s chat about it.
about me
I’m a coach with a creative soul and a background in writing and storytelling.
Throughout my 20s, I had full-time positions at several leading creative agencies. Life was good, I worked on cool projects – a decent career path was unfolding. But I wanted more freedom, more flexibility, and more money.
So, in 2015 I quit and set up my own writing and editing business. I cut my hours, travelled, and upped my income, working for companies like American Express, BMW, and Land Rover as well as writing for the Guardian and the Times. There were a lot of fascinating interviews: Buzz Aldrin, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, TED conference founder Richard Wurman, to name a few, as well as hundreds of amazing CEOs, engineers, designers and entrepreneurs. You can read more about that here.
In 2020, after nearly 15 years’ living in Germany, I moved back to the UK – first London, then Cornwall. Gradually I realised I needed more than just a change of scene, though. I was still enjoying asking questions, but I wanted to connect and help. After completing a level 2 counselling course, I dived into the world of coaching.
When I’m not doing that, I love exploring the sea and the outdoors. Music, meditation, books and many sports are important to me. I also mentor young men with the charity A Band of Brothers. And I’m learning to play the drums. It’s humbling but fun… a valuable reminder that doing new things is hard but also rewarding.
